Nakuru Based Politician Petitions U.S. President for Governor's Deportation

Nakuru-based politician Evans Kimori has formally appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump, requesting the deportation of Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika due to her prolonged absence from Kenya.

Nakuru-based politician Evans Kimori has formally appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump, requesting the deportation of Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika due to her prolonged absence from Kenya. Kimori asserts that Governor Kihika's extended stay in the United States has created a leadership vacuum, adversely affecting governance and service delivery in Nakuru County.

Governor Kihika, elected in August 2022, has reportedly been in the U.S. for nearly five months seeking maternity and postnatal medical care. Kenyan law permits maternity leave of up to 90 days; however, Kimori contends that her absence surpasses this period, leaving county operations in limbo. He highlights the closure of War Memorial Hospital, a key healthcare facility in Nakuru, as a significant concern during her absence.

In his letter, which was also copied to Kenyan President William Ruto, Kimori emphasizes that while Governor Kihika receives advanced medical care abroad, Nakuru residents face deteriorating local healthcare services. He calls for accountable leadership and urges President Trump to facilitate her return to Kenya to resume her gubernatorial duties.

This development follows a 14-day ultimatum issued by Nakuru residents to the County Assembly, demanding clarification on the county's leadership during Governor Kihika's absence.

As the situation unfolds, residents and stakeholders await responses from both the U.S. and Kenyan administrations regarding Kimori's petition and the future governance of Nakuru County.
